(UPDATE) East High under lockdown as police investigate threat

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne police officers are currently responding to a reported threat at East High School. The school has been placed under lockdown as officers work to secure the area. Officials urge the public to avoid the area surrounding the school.

At this time, law enforcement is actively clearing the building. The nature of the threat has not been disclosed.

Carey Junior High’s secure protocol was lifted at 12:43 p.m., according to a report from the education platform Remind. East High is still under lockdown as of 12:35 p.m. and in a hold protocol.

The Cheyenne Police Department is expected to provide additional updates as the situation unfolds.
