CHEYENNE, Wyo. — New leadership is stepping in for the Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority.

At its regular monthly meeting Thursday, the downtown governing body held new elections for the board’s president and vice chair positions. Scott Roybal, the board’s representative for the Cheyenne City Council, was nominated and unanimously elected president.

Wendy Volk, who was elected board president in January, is now the authority’s vice chair. Janelle Rose served as vice chair prior to Volk’s appointment Thursday.

The DDA hosted board elections in January, much like other local governing bodies such as the Cheyenne City Council and Laramie County Board of Commissioners. However, the board’s bylaws state that elections take place in July, according to DDA administrator Kylie Dorr.

The downtown governing body voted to postpone elections for its secretary and treasurer positions until its next meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18.
