CASPER, Wyo. — A special prosecutor has been named and details have been released, in the case against the husband of Cheyenne’s Mayor.
Christopher James “Jimmy” Orr faces a charge of Domestic Battery in the case. The charge is described in court paperwork filed in Laramie County Circuit Court as a misdemeanor.
Christopher James Orr, husband of Cheyenne Mayor Marian Orr, was reportedly arrested in Laramie County on December 10, 2019. According to an affidavit filed in the case, officers responded to a private Cheyenne home, that evening at approximately 7:30 pm.
Police say that the suspect claimed that he had been in a verbal argument with his wife, when he threw a cup into a kitchen sink, near where his wife was standing. It was then alleged that Marian Orr threw a piece of the broken cup back at Christopher James Orr.
The affidavit goes on to say that Christopher James Orr claimed to enter the room where Marian Orr was standing and placed her into a “bear hug.”
Police say that Marian Orr showed signs of bruising and an abrasion under her chin. Police say that Marian Orr claimed that she was in fear for her safety when she contacted officers.
Christopher James Orr received a $5,000 signature bond amount, according to paperwork filed in Laramie County Circuit Court.
Court paperwork also included a motion from Laramie County District Attorney Leigh Ann Grant Manlove, requesting a special prosecutor to the case. The motion in particular identified as Campbell County and Prosecuting Attorney Ron Wirhtwein.
An order appointing Wirhtwein was also filed.
All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
