CASPER, Wyo. — Sheriff’s officials say that four juveniles have been arrested in an ongoing investigation, that has led to the recovery of a stolen truck and four firearms.
Because of the ongoing nature of the investigation, and the suspects’ status as juveniles, identifying information for the suspects was not released, and details are few.
Natrona County Sheriff’s Investigator Taylor Courtney confirmed the four were arrested in connection with an auto-burglary reported in Egerton, Natrona County, Wyoming where two firearms were reported stolen on Sunday, Feb 16, 2020.
Courtney went on to say that investigators believe the theft in Egerton is connected with the theft of a 2015 Chevy Silverado from the Natrona County community of Bar Nunn, sometime during the overnight hours of Feb. 17 or early morning of Feb. 18.
The Silverado was reportedly recovered through the assistance of the Casper Police Department. Courtney said that arrests were made after a brief foot chase, once the vehicle was located by law enforcement.
During the foot chase, investigators say that one juvenile suspect threw away a gun. The gun was reported to have been stolen, and was among four guns total, recovered in the investigation.
Courtney said that two of the firearms were reported stolen, and two were suspected of being stolen.
The Sheriff’s Department investigation into the case remains open and continues. We will bring you more information as it becomes available.
An earlier version of this story identified that the Silverado was stolen from Midwest, a community in Natrona County. The Natrona County Sheriff’s Office contacted Oil City to clarify the vehicle had actually been stolen from the Natrona County community of Bar Nunn. The story has been changed to reflect this, and Cap City regrets the error.
