CASPER, Wyo. — A 20-year-old Torrington man died as the result of a crash that occurred on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 15 on US 85 north of Lingle, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP).

Jose Vazquez Reyes was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash but succumbed to his injuries at the scene, WHP said in a press release. Two people were also injured in the crash.

Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were notified of the collision at around 5 am Tuesday. The two vehicle crash involved a 2009 Dodge 3500 and a 2007 Ford Mustang.

The Dodge was traveling southbound on US 85 when it crossed over into the northbound lane and collided head on with the Ford. The Wyoming Highway Patrol says that Dodge overturned following the collision.

The driver of the Dodge and a passenger were transported to hospitals for injuries they sustained in the crash. Reyes had been driving the Ford.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says that inattention and fatigue on the part of the driver of the Dodge are being investigated as possible factors contributing to the crash.

“This is the 88th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2020 compared to 116 in 2019, 79 in 2018, and 108 in 2017 to date,” the WHP adds.
