The City of Cheyenne has announced a family and children oriented event in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the Greater Cheyenne Greenway.

Officials say that the Kid’s Bike Safety Rodeo and Slow Roll has been scheduled for Sunday, June 6, 2021 at the North Cheyenne Community Park on the 3200 block of Mynear Street.

According to a written statement sent to media on Friday riders and coaches from Team WyoX and the Cheyenne Middle and High School Mountain Bike Team will be assisting with the rodeo, which is also happening in Conjunction with Cheyenne Regional Medical Center’s Safe Kids Day.

“The Bike Rodeo will help kids and their parents learn about their bikes and teach important bike safety skills,” the City statement said. “Kids are asked to bring their bikes and helmets.”

The City of Cheyenne says that the following has been scheduled for the event:

  • Helmet giveaways, fittings, and adjustments
  • Bike fittings for seat height, brake, and shift levers
  • Bike mechanical inspections (air, brakes, chains)
  • Bike etiquette and hand signals
  • Bike skills, balance, starting and stopping, riding straight, scanning, and signaling
  • Skills tests such as a zigzag, slow race, figure eight, and riding obstacles.
  • Safe places to wheel, proper clothing, reflective equipment, moving, stationary, surface, and visual hazards.

Cheyenne Slow Roll will hold a family friendly bike ride at 3:00 pm. This roll plans to travel west along the Greenway on Storey Boulevard and into the Mustang Ridge Subdivision, and back to the North Cheyenne Community Park.
