“Reflections” theme of upcoming community photo competition and exhibit

“Reflections” has been announced as the theme for a photo contest and planned exhibition from the City of Cheyenne Community Recreation & Events Department.

An announcement from the City says that the contest and exhibit will be held September 1 through October 3 at the Cheyenne Civic Center. Public viewing dates to be announced later.

“The ‘Reflections’ theme is designed to showcase transformations which take place by looking at one picture while having two sides,” the City’s announcement said. Official rules for the event went on to say ” the Contest & Exhibit is designed to showcase transformations which take place by looking at one picture while having a mirrored image. “

Brochure and entry forms with detailed information may be picked up at the Kiwanis Community House on the 4600 block of Lions Park Drive or download links are available on the Cheyenne Rec mainpage.

  • Registration is open until Friday, June 4. Individuals may register from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm at the Kiwanis Community House.
  • Entry fee is $5.00 per photo; three entry max.
  • For youth entries the first photo will be free (limit of 15 free entries in youth division).
    • If a youth participant submits more than one photo, each additional photo will be $5 (max of three photos). 
  • Photo drop-off will be Monday, August 30, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Cheyenne Civic Center.

Photographers may enter in a variety of categories: Youth (12 & Under, 13-17), Amateur, Intermediate, Semi-Professional, Professional, and Enhanced photography.

The contest is limited to the first 150 photos.

Awards will be given to first-place winners and Best of Show. A walkthrough reception will be held September 1 for artists and families, hosted by the Programs & Facilities Division.
