CHEYENNE, Wyo. — An eighth-grade student at Carey Junior High, Saul Verduzco-Amezcua, was selected as Laramie County School District #1’s Student of the Week for the week of April 18, according to a release from the district.
He was nominated because of his 4.0 GPA that he’s maintained while still being enrolled in core honors classes.
“Saul is an exemplary student who demonstrates respect, responsibility and integrity,” members of the selection committee said. “He enjoys learning and works hard on every single task or assignment he is given.”
According to the release, Verduzco-Amezcua also participates in the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program.
His teachers describe him as “always going above and beyond expectations, outgoing, and always engaged.” They also said he is a kind and caring individual.
LCSD #1 says that they are proud to present Verduzco-Amezcua with this honor.
