CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Jenna Merritt, a senior student at East High, was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of May 9, according to a release from the district.
She was nominated for being a dedicated student who is kind to everyone, reliable and conscientious.
Merritt has been an International Baccalaureate (IB) student since her freshman year and is pursuing her IB diploma, according to the release.
“Jenna is willing to discuss issues that are controversial but is able to keep an open mind and listen to the other side,” East High IB Program Coordinator Jon Lever said. “She truly embodies the idea of listening to understand, rather than listening to respond.”
LCSD 1 says that they are proud to present Merritt with this honor.
