CHEYENNE, Wyo. — On Monday, City Council approved a grant that would go toward a hydraulic project.

The American Rescue Plan Act grants for water and sewer projects are doled out by the Wyoming Office of State Lands and Investments.

One grant for $2,294,000 would be used for the Water Reclamation Facilities Hydraulic Capacity Project. The project will install equalization basins at Dry Creek WRK as well as relocate the outfall pipeline at Crow Creek WRF. This project is considered essential for the operation of these areas during high storm events.

The Board of Public Utilities is committed to paying the remainder of the project costs using revenues from the Sewer Enterprise Fund in the amount of $806,000.

A second grant request is for $3,927,097 for the North City Zone Improvements Project. The goal is to remove the Round Top Tank and build a 6 million gallon storage tank to ensure the city can meet the growing demand for drinking water. The Board of Public Utilities received a Wyoming Water Development Commission grant for more than $8 million to be used as matching funds.
