Cheyenne residential fire leaves one dog dead, two cats still missing

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A residential fire that occurred earlier today, Sept. 23, has left one dog dead and two cats missing.

Reports of a structure fire on the 1500 block of Pinion Drive were received by Cheyenne Fire Rescue at 10:16 a.m.

Engine 3’s crew arrived at 10:23 a.m. and noticed smoke coming from the front and right side of the home. Upon entering the home, they found a fire in the kitchen area along with heavy smoke. The fire was under control within 10 minutes.

Officials reported that no occupants were present at the time of the fire, though one dog has perished and two cats remain missing.

The scene was cleared by 11:30 a.m., with an estimate of damages unknown.

The cause of the fire is also unknown and is currently being investigated.

CFR received assistance from Cheyenne Animal Control, the American Medical Response team, the Cheyenne Police Department, and Black Hills Energy.
