CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Cheyenne City Council conducted a final reading of an ordinance on threatening or obscene phone calls during its meeting tonight, Oct. 24.

This final reading was approved during the meeting.

This ordinance defines an obscene or threatening phone call as “a call which uses obscene, lewd, or profane language or suggests a lewd or lascivious act with intent to terrify, intimidate, threaten, harass, annoy or offend; or attempts to extort money or another thing of value from the person to whom he or she communicated.”

There is an amendment to this ordinance that states that any electronic communications which fit the above description would be categorized as obscene or threatening.

After the third reading, this amendment will become law for the city.
