(UPDATED) Nighttime snow causing closure at F.E. Warren Base

UPDATE, 10 a.m.: The base is closed for the day.

A Facebook post states:

Due to continuing inclement weather, the 90MW/CV has directed a base closure today, Jan. 18, 2023, at 9 a.m.

Mission-essential personnel are to report as directed by leadership.

Gate 5 will remain open and the visitor control center will be closed. Gate 1 will close at 10 a.m. to allow traffic to exit the base.

Base services including the commissary, base exchange and shopette will be closed. The dining facility will be open and fitness centers will be open for those with CAC access. Child and youth programs are initiating calls to parents to pick up children as soon as safely possible.

The 90 MDG has closed and will be calling patients to reschedule appointments.

Road conditions are currently RED/BLACK and snowfall is expected to continue throughout the day. Please keep travel to a minimum to allow crews to

continue to clear roadways.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A nighttime snow has caused delays at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, with more snow possible today.

The base is currently on a two-hour delay, according to a post on the base’s Facebook page. Mission-essential personnel will report as normal, while all others will report at 9:30 a.m. F.E. Warren Youth Programs and the Child Development Center will delay opening to 8:30 a.m., with road conditions being YELLOW/RED.

Today, Jan. 18, there is a 100% chance of snow, with 1–2 inches of accumulation possible. The temperature will be around 23, with a north wind at 15–25 mph. The evening will be mostly clear with a low of 15 and a west-northwest wind at 25 mph. There is the possibility of gusts as high as 35 mph.

Thursday, Jan. 19, will be sunny with a high of 35 and west-northwest winds at 20–25 mph. The winds will decrease to 10–15 mph, but gusts may reach 35 mph. The evening will be mostly cloudy with a low of 13 and northwest winds at 5 mph.

Friday, Jan. 20, there is a 20% chance of snow after 11 a.m. alongside mostly cloudy skies and a high of 27. Winds will be in the north at 5–10 mph. The evening will be mostly cloudy with a low of 9.
