Laramie County law enforcement to highlight school crosswalk safety

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office will be bringing awareness to school zones throughout the county next week.

In a release from the department, it was announced that local law enforcement would be teaming up to cover all the school zones in Laramie County School Districts 1 and 2. An officer will be at each school zone with their emergency lights on so that the public becomes aware of the location of school zones.

“We will have a deputy at every school in unincorporated Laramie county, no matter how small the school is,” said Sheriff Brian Kozak. “Our agency has implemented the goal to be visible in school zones for the remainder of the year.”

Along with the county-wide effort, Sheriff Kozak will be joining other law enforcement leaders at McCormick Junior High’s School Zone to assist Janelle Jones, founder of #ForMak, with her crosswalk duties from 7:15 to 8:45 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 30.
