CASPER, Wyo. — Wyoming’s two Bed Bath & Beyond stores will close permanently.

According to a list supplied by Bed Bath & Beyond Inc., the stores in Casper and Cheyenne’s respective malls were added in an update on Feb. 7.

An associate reached by phone at the Casper store confirmed the closure, saying the staff was informed of the news last week. A closure timeline was not yet known, they said.

The company has been announcing the closures of hundreds of its stores across the country as it continues to struggle financially.

The company has said it plans to close 400 of its stores as it attempts to avoid bankruptcy, according to CNN. The closures represent nearly half of the company’s brick-and-mortar footprint, said NBC News.

Bed Bath & Beyond traces its roots to 1971, when a Bed ‘n Bath store opened in New Jersey. According to Wikipedia, the company changed its name to Bed Bath & Beyond in 1987 and continued to expand dramatically across the country through the next two decades.

There are two Bed Bath & Beyond stores in Wyoming. Cheyenne’s store is located at 5214 Rue Terre, and Casper’s is in Eastridge Mall.

Casper’s Bed Bath & Beyond opened in the Eastridge Mall in 2007. It will now join retail stores with large footprints that have closed there in recent years, including Sears and Macy’s.
