CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Meals on Wheels of Cheyenne is looking for artists to create a new mural project on the west side of the nonprofit’s building, located at 2015 S. Greeley Highway.
Project partners are seeking to fill the wall with colorful images that are in line with Meals on Wheels of Cheyenne’s mission, which includes supporting the independence, health and well-being of individuals living in Cheyenne and Laramie County with an expressed need for nutritional support through the delivery of nutritious meals, friendly visits and safety checks.
The selected wall is also at the entrance of Highway 85 into Cheyenne and near a bus stop for many residents on the South Side. Partners request that the content of the piece demonstrate no imagery tied to political, religious or otherwise inappropriate material.
Artist and concept selections will be made via a jury of project partners and local artists. Work will be evaluated on content, design and ability to complete the work in the time frame requested.
The mural, measuring a width of 43 feet and a height of 7.5 feet, will be completed during summer 2023. The selected wall will be primed and ready to go prior to the work start date. It is expected that the artist will be equipped with their own ladders and other equipment in order to complete the work.
Artist submissions are due on June 2 and the jury selection will take place June 12–15. The selected artist will be notified on June 16 and can begin mural work as early as July 1. Work must be wrapped up by Sept. 30.
Project partners have come together to provide $5,824 toward this project. These funds are intended to go to the artist as a stipend for completion of the work as well as for any supplies that need to be purchased in order to do so.
Those wishing to apply for this project can do so via the form Call for Artist Meals on Wheels of Cheyenne Mural (office.com).
