CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Wyoming artist Robert Martinez is the featured artist of the Ed and Caren Murray Art Series at Laramie County Community College.

Martinez’s current work uses the historical imagery, myths and stories of the West and Arapaho Culture combined with modern themes to create images that have a statement on the issues of today, according to his website. Martinez paints and draws striking forms using intense vibrant color and contrasting shades of light and dark. The final products are confronting and engage the viewer.

The art exhibition will be on display from Aug. 14 to Sept. 8 in the Esther and John Clay Fine Art Gallery in the Surbrugg/Prentice Auditorium. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A reception for the exhibit will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 24.
