CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Cheyenne Police Department is warning community members to be on the lookout for a phone scammer claiming to be a police officer.
Officers received multiple reports that the CPD’s phone number is being spoofed, according to a CPD post.
A scammer named “Vincent Frank” is claiming to be a police officer and asking the call recipient for personal information.
The department encourages residents to share this information with friends and loved ones, particularly the elderly, who are often victims of these scams.
If people need to verify the identity of a police officer or deputy, they should contact the CPD’s dispatch center at (307) 637-6525.
