Meet Macklin, the latest addition to Pine Bluffs Police Department

K9 Macklin, who will work alongside Officer Miller in Pine Bluffs (Pine Bluffs Police Department)

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Pine Bluffs Police Department has introduced the newest member of its team, K-9 Macklin, a 2-year-old German Shepherd trained in narcotics detection and tracking.

Chief Austin Smith emphasized that K-9 Macklin, who will work alongside Officer Miller, is not a “bite dog.” Their primary focus is on keeping Pine Bluffs safe through narcotics detection and tracking, according to a press release by the department.

The acquisition of K-9 Macklin was made possible through the generosity of Ragnar Defense, a Casper-based organization, which donated the dog to the town. Chief Smith expressed gratitude for the donation and highlighted the financial challenges of maintaining a K-9 program, including the appeal for community donations to support the initiative.

The Pine Bluffs Police Department has already received support and donations from community members, for which they are thankful. Chief Smith also commended Sgt. Kemp for his persistence and effort in seeking out K-9 programs, which ultimately led to the partnership with Ragnar Defense and the introduction of K-9 Macklin to the force.

The department is actively seeking donations to help cover the expenses associated with the K-9 program and encourages anyone with questions or offers of support to contact it directly at 307-245-3084.
