CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Laramie County Fire Authority has announced a call for motivated and skilled individuals to fill seasonal wildland firefighter positions. With the application deadline set for April 15, potential candidates are encouraged to act swiftly.

LCFA is getting ready for the upcoming wildfire season, offering two seasonal positions from May 1 through Aug. 31. Given the unpredictable nature of wildfires, these roles may extend beyond the initial term, depending on national resource demands. This recruitment aims to bolster both local and national wildfire response capabilities.

Selected candidates will have competitive hourly wages ranging from $16 to $20, based on experience, with eligibility for overtime and special dispatch pay rates. Beyond financial compensation, seasonal firefighters play a critical role in staffing wildland dispatch engines, under the guidance of seasoned leaders.

Responsibilities extend from local emergency responses to national dispatches, requiring availability for extended periods. Moreover, these positions offer an opportunity to contribute to daily training, station tasks, and other essential duties.

Prospective applicants must meet minimum requirements, including NWCG Firefighter Type II qualifications, and preference is given to those with advanced certifications. To apply, candidates should submit their resumes and cover letters by the April 15 deadline to Division Chief Van Vlack via email.
