CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne Fire Rescue and the Cheyenne Police Department are reminding residents to be safe while celebrating Independence Day and to note that restrictions apply to fireworks within city limits.

Sparklers, smoke devices and novelties are the only legal consumer fireworks that can be purchased and used within the city. All other types of firework are illegal to use, according to the announcement.

“The use of consumer fireworks is not allowed anywhere within the city limits of Cheyenne, including private property, except for sparklers, smoke devices, and novelties,” Bob Mason, chief of prevention at Cheyenne Fire Rescue, stated. “To prevent injuries and possible death, Cheyenne Fire Rescue encourages residents to leave the fireworks to the professionals.”

Violators could be issued a citation and possible fine.

Residents can call 307-637-6525 to report firework concerns. Do not call 911 to report fireworks violations unless there is an emergency.

The Cheyenne Police Department will have an increased law enforcement presence throughout the city. The DUI Command Vehicle will be posted to watch for impaired drivers, and officers will be assigned to watch for fireworks-related offenses.

For those who enjoy large fireworks displays, Cheyenne Frontier Days and the City of Cheyenne will host a fireworks show designed to be seen from locations all over Cheyenne. Residents can view the show from their neighborhood or at Lions Park. Frontier Park will not be open as a viewing location. The fireworks display will begin July 4 around 9:35 p.m. For more details, visit cfdrodeo.co/July4th.
