CASPER, Wyo. — An Arizona man died in a head-on collision on State Highway 120 north of Cody on Saturday, Aug. 17, according to preliminary information in a Wyoming Highway Patrol report. Another person was injured.
The crash occurred around 1:55 a.m. The WHP says a Dodge Ram was traveling southeast when it drifted across the center line, resulting in an offset, head-on crash with a Mazda CX-5. “The Dodge came to rest in the roadway and the Mazda tripped and rolled 1/2 time,” the report said.
Driver fatigue is cited as a possible contributing factor.
The deceased is identified as 77-year-old Craig Johnson. A seat belt was in use, the report notes.
To date, there have been 61 fatalities on Wyoming highways in 2024. By this date, there had been 94 fatalities in 2023, and 77 in 2022.
