CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The City of Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities recently reminded Cheyenne residents that rates for both sewer and water services are increasing next month.

That’s according to a release from the city, which stated that there will be a 10% increase on its water bill and an 8% increase on its sewer bill beginning Jan. 1, 2025.

According to the release, the rate increase was approved by the city’s governing body during its annual budget session last June.

“This increase is necessary for the cost of continued services Cheyenne businesses and residents expect,” the release states. “Revenues from water and sewer rates are invested directly back into the construction, maintenance, and operation of Cheyenne’s water and sewer system. Funding for the water and sewer system comes from water and sewer sales and fees, grants, water and sewer enterprise fund cash, and loans. All day-to-day operating costs and unplanned work, such as water main leaks, are paid solely by rates and fees.”
