CHEYENNE, Wyo. — United Way of Laramie County is asking the general public to donate their old computers.
That’s according to a social media post from the nonprofit organization, which stated that it wants to repurpose donated computers and give them to kids who need one.
“Give the gift of opportunity,” the post states. “Replacing your old computer equipment? Donate it to our Computers4Kids program! They refurbish your used technology and provide it to local kids who need it most — helping them learn, grow, and thrive.”
Computers are oftentimes essential to the education of young students, and United Way is encouraging Cheyenne residents to invest in the next generation.
“Got that new computer for Christmas?” the post asks. “We would love to have your old one. Help us ensure all kids have access to the tools they need.”
The refurbished computers aren’t just for kids, either. United Way will also donate a computer to a family who needs one. The organization is accepting any version of computer, as well as any accessories, and examples of donations include laptops, desktops, keyboards, monitors, mice and cords.
“Your old tech could be the start of a bright future for a child in our community!” the post states.
