CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Boys and Girls Clubs State Youth of the Year competition was held in Cheyenne on Jan. 27 and 28, and it featured competitors from across Wyoming attempting to earn the title.
That’s according to a release from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Cheyenne, which states that the competition took place at the State Capitol this year and featured first lady Jennie Gordon presenting the awards to this year’s winners.
Aiden C. from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Cheyenne was named the 2025 State Youth of the Year. Jase B., from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming, was the first runner-up; and Jaycee N., from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Douglas, was named the second runner-up.

“At the event, it was announced that Aiden will receive a full, four-year tuition and fees scholarship, supplementing the Hathaway Scholarship, from the University of Wyoming, as well as a $2,500 Boys & Girls Clubs of America award from Toyota,” the release states. “He will also advance to the regional conference in Frisco, TX, in May. Jase will receive a $1,500 scholarship from the Wyoming Area Council, and Jaycee will receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Wyoming School Boards Association.”
The release stated that Drew Perkins, Gov. Gordon’s chief of staff, gave a proclamation designating Jan. 26 through Feb. 1 as Boys & Girls Clubs Week in Wyoming.
“The Youth of the Year program fosters the essential leadership skills young people need to succeed,” said Ken Dugas, former board member of the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Wyoming and emcee for the event. “Hearing these incredible stories reminds us of the vital role the Boys & Girls Clubs play in shaping our future leaders.”
The event featured three judges, “whose thoughtful evaluation ensured a fair selection process,” the release said. Those judges included:
- Leah Curtsinger, from Daniel’s Fund
- Korin Schmidt, from the Wyoming Department of Family Services
- Timothy Sheppard, from the Wyoming Veterans Commission and Wyoming Hunger Initiative
“Established in 1947, Youth of the Year has grown into Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s signature leadership development program, helping young individuals build skills in communication, teamwork, and goal-setting,” the release stated. “Across Wyoming, the 27 Boys & Girls Club locations provide more than 17,000 youth with a safe and supportive environment, transforming lives and inspiring futures.”
