CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The 1983 holiday film classic “A Christmas Story” is coming to the stage in Cheyenne on Friday night at the Historic Atlas Theatre. The play is presented by Cheyenne Little Theatre and is playing until Dec. 16.
According to Cheyenne Little Theatre, the story is set in the 1940’s Midwest and revolves around 9-year-old Ralphie Parker and his “quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher and even Santa Claus himself at Higbee’s Department Store.” “A Christmas Story,” which has been a holiday movie mainstay for Americans over the past 40 years, was originally adapted from author Jean Shepherd’s novel “In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash.”
Cheyenne Little Theatre’s adaptation of the play begins Friday, Dec. 1 and has showings Fridays through Sundays up until Dec. 16. The play will also be presented on Thursday, Dec. 7. The play will be shown at the Historic Atlas Theatre at 211 W. Lincolnway except for Saturday, Dec. 9, when it will be performed at Mary Godfrey Playhouse at 2706 E. Pershing Blvd.
Ticket costs range from $19 to $29, while the show on Dec. 7 costs $15. To reserve seats, visit Cheyenne Little Theatre’s ticket website or call the Historic Atlas Theatre at 307-638-6543.
