CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Lions Park in Cheyenne may be getting new playground equipment.
The Cheyenne City Council voted to adopt a resolution allowing the city to apply for a grant to help pay for the new equipment during their Thursday, Dec. 19 meeting.
The resolution says that the playground equipment that currently exists in South Lions Park needs to be replaced due to heavy use. It goes on to say the current play equipment is so antiquated that replacement parts are no longer available.
The grant that the City of Cheyenne will be applying for comes from the Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant. They are requesting an amount of $136,481.00 that will help cover 50 percent of the estimated $272,963.00 cost of the project.
The resolution says that Lions Park is the most popular park in Cheyenne and that a worn out playground can be a risk to those who use it.
