CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Residents should call the city before considering a carport or face a hefty fine.
The City of Cheyenne Compliance Division and Planning & Development Department are reminding residents to call the city before purchasing or building a carport or covering an existing driveway.
Building permits are required when building structures over 200 square feet. These structures are also limited to areas of the rear or side yard.
Carports or covered parking areas in front yards or along property lines are prohibited.
Those who do not obtain the necessary approvals could face daily fines of up to $100 as well as the removal of unpermitted structures or structures located within a required setback.
