Early registration period for city’s youth basketball league open now until Sept. 15

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The early registration period is now open for the City of Cheyenne’s youth basketball program to be held later this year.

Children in third through sixth grade, boys and girls, of all skill levels are welcome to participate, with practices beginning Oct. 17 at elementary schools around the city. The program is designed to teach “fundamental basketball skills” and provide a fun league environment in which children may be taught, per a city release Thursday afternoon.

The program’s early registration period is active from now until Sept. 15, after which a $25 late fee will be added (as long as space is available) until registration closes entirely on Sept. 29.

League games will be played on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings from Nov. 5 to Dec. 17 at Meadowlark Elementary, Anderson Elementary and the David Romero Youth Activity Center. Volunteer coaches for games and practices are also being sought after.

Those interested in signing their child or children up for the league can register online at www.cheyennerec.org or in person at the Kiwanis Community House at 4603 Lions Park Drive. More information is also available by contacting city recreation specialist Harley Tekerman at 307-637-6408 or htekerman@cheyennecity.org.
