CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne City Council sent an amendment that would allow for open containers at Community Appreciation Day to the Public Works Committee on Monday.

Community Appreciation Day will be Sept. 24. The amendment would allow for open containers from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The amendment states that, if approved, it would help the local businesses, boosting the local economy and helping create more local wealth and jobs.

Cited in the amendment are a number of studies illustrated on the American Independence Business Alliance’s website that have shown a 48% return to the community occurs when consumers spend locally.

If approved, the event organizers will be required to comply with any and all laws, rules, and regulations to ensure the safety of the community.
