CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Laramie County School District 1 said on social media early Tuesday that students will attend class remotely due to winter conditions today.
“Buildings will be closed, and teachers will be offering remote activities and lessons,” the district’s post said. “Please contact teachers via Remind if you have questions.”
Numerous roads and highways are closed as of early Tuesday due to blizzard conditions, according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation, including swaths of Interstate 80. High wind gusts are expected to make travel difficult to impossible, the National Weather Service warns.
Meteorologists say the core impact of the winter storm is expected today through Wednesday, and whiteout conditions are forecast as winds come from the north-northwest at 30–35 mph. Gusts could reach as high as 50 mph. Windchill values are expected to dip to minus 10 degrees, and the high is forecast at 19 degrees. Up to 2 inches of snow is expected in Cheyenne today.
