CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne Fire Rescue responded to a commercial fire that caused $250,000 in damage early Monday morning.

At around 2:15 a.m. Monday, the Cheyenne Police Department found smoke and a fire coming from Superior Glass and Mirror, 821 E. Lincolnway, and called for fire crews. CFR discovered a fire in the back part of the building and forced access to the back shop.

Crews extinguished a vehicle that was on fire parked inside the building as well as other building contents to which the fire had spread, Cheyenne Fire Rescue said in a news release.

Twenty-three CFR personnel were part of the response, with assistance from the Cheyenne Police Department, AMR and Black Hills Energy.

East Lincolnway was briefly closed for fire hydrant usage.

No occupants were inside the building at the time of the fire, but firefighters rescued two cats in the building. One cat did not survive due to smoke exposure.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
