CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Land has been annexed to the City of Cheyenne in anticipation of future housing development.

At its Monday night meeting, the Cheyenne City Council approved two owner-requested annexations comprising over 9 acres of land. In addition, the city altered the zoning classification of separate land to accommodate for a business facility.

The first annexation to be approved was requested by the owner, according to City Council President Ken Esquibel. The 8.8 acres of land is located west of Converse Avenue and north of Dell Range Boulevard and has been classified as neighborhood residential high density. The purpose of the annexation is to allow for future multi-family housing development within city limits, according to a supporting document.

The second plot of land annexed to the City of Cheyenne is set east of US 30 and north of and adjacent to East Pershing Boulevard. The 0.35 acres of land has received the zoning classification of mixed-use residential. The land currently comprises a single-family home, and the owner requested the annexation to connect to city water.

Apart from these annexations, the city amended the zoning classification for vacant land located near the intersection of Hutchins Drive and Industry Drive. The zoning was changed from light industrial to community business to allow for a dog wash facility, per a supporting document.
