CHEYENNE, Wyo. — City staff were recently joined by Wyoming’s U.S. representative to commemorate improvements to a local cemetery.

On Monday, officials with the City of Cheyenne and local veteran groups welcomed Rep. Harriet Hageman for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate improvements to the Cheyenne National Cemetery’s access road. Representatives with Fort Logan National Cemetery, which oversees the cemetery, were also present.

Cheyenne National Cemetery is the first national cemetery in Wyoming and was dedicated in October 2020.

To improve road access, crews with STC Construction paved the end of Hildreth Road from the High Plains Arboretum to the cemetery over the summer. The Cheyenne City Council approved the work in June. Veterans Affairs will continue to make improvements to the cemetery, with projects for restrooms and better accessibility slated to begin in the spring.
