CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne’s Finance Committee will get a chance to review a $199,841 contract for an update of the Long-Range Metropolitan Transportation Plan.
The agreement would be between the city, the Metropolitan Planning Organization and Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc. The City Council referred the agreement to the Finance Committee as part of its consent agenda Monday.
If the council approves the agreement at a future meeting, it would remain in effect through Dec. 31, 2025.
The Metropolitan Transportation Plan is a long-range planning document that guides transportation decision-making in the Cheyenne metropolitan area. The plan identifies future transportation needs and recommends projects to address those needs. The update will take into account changes in population, employment and land use that have occurred since the last update in 2016, city documents state.
Public input in the process would be sought in January 2025 as part of the contractor’s data collection on existing conditions, in July 2025 as part of the fiscal constraint and implementation process and again in October 2025 as part of the MTP adoption.
Key elements of the MTP update include:
- A review of existing and future transportation needs
- Recommendations for transportation projects to address those needs
- A financial plan to fund those projects
- An action plan to implement those projects
