Cheyenne seeks volunteers for four advisory boards

Help shape city policies on accessibility, zoning, policing, and building codes

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The City of Cheyenne is inviting residents to apply for volunteer positions on four advisory boards, offering opportunities to help shape local policies. Openings are available on the Mayor’s Council for People with Disabilities, the Board of Adjustment, the Police Civil Service Commission and the Building Code Board of Appeals. Each board has specific duties and term lengths, with applications due by Friday, Nov. 29 at 5 p.m.

Mayor’s Council for People with Disabilities

Two openings are available on the Mayor’s Council for People with Disabilities, with terms ending Dec. 31, 2025, and Dec. 31, 2026. This council advises the Mayor’s Office, city staff and the governing body on issues affecting residents with disabilities. Monthly meetings cover accessibility, transportation, recreation, employment and self-advocacy. More details about the council are available at cheyennecity.org/mcpd.

Board of Adjustment

One position is open on the Board of Adjustment, with a term lasting until Dec. 31, 2026. This board handles zoning appeals, conditional use approvals and variances. Meeting monthly, it makes final decisions on administrative adjustments and site plans. Information about the board’s responsibilities is posted at cheyennecity.org/boardofadjustment.

Police Civil Service Commission

Starting Jan. 1, 2025, a three-year term will open on the Police Civil Service Commission. This board oversees rules and regulations for the Cheyenne Police Department and meets annually in January, with additional sessions as needed. Residents can learn more at cheyennecity.org/PCSC.

Building Code Board of Appeals

One position will be available on the Building Code Board of Appeals for a term beginning Jan. 1, 2025, and lasting three years. This board hears appeals and interprets building codes, reviewing cases related to construction materials and practices as outlined in the City Code. Details are accessible at cheyennecity.org/BCBA.
