CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Cheyenne City Council is mulling over whether to designate a paid parking district in downtown Cheyenne.

The proposed district encompasses streets primarily between Warren Avenue and Pioneer Avenue and south of West 24th Street. Several blocks on Thomes Avenue are also included. The district extends down past West Lincolnway to West 15th Street.

Cheyenne councilmembers referred the resolution to the Finance Committee, which will have its next regular meeting Monday, Nov. 18. The agenda item was part of the council’s consent agenda and therefore required no discussion.

The city passed a resolution in July establishing a program for paid on-street parking districts. Cheyenne city staff held a public meeting in February to discuss the possibility of establishing paid parking in Cheyenne.

The Cheyenne City Council is responsible for designating where these districts will be set. If councilmembers approve, then the Cheyenne Police Department’s Parking Division will establish the district’s parking zones and parking rates.

The resolution can be viewed below.
