CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The city has sealed the deal on annexing dozens of county pockets and land situated on the North Range Business Park.
The Cheyenne City Council approved three ordinances at its Monday night meeting. One ordinance sees the city consolidate 640 acres of land on the North Range Business Park, located northwest of the intersection of Roundtop Road and Interstate 80. The park has several owners, including Microsoft, Cheyenne Light Fuel and Power Company, Cheyenne LEADS and others, according to a city staff memo. The city intends to reclassify this land’s zoning from light industrial to business park.
In a separate ordinance, the city has agreed to annex 38 properties generally located north of Bevans Street, west of College Drive and south of Dell Range. The governing body has amended the annexed land to residential zoning classifications. One pocket of land currently has commercial use, and another houses a church. The remaining land has no development.
The council then annexed 26 other properties in a third ordinance. The lands are generally located east of Ridge Road, west of Whitney Road and along Dell Range. The tracts of land were reclassified into agricultural residential, low-density residential, medium-density residential and mixed-use residential zones. The majority of these county pockets are used for residential purposes. Three properties don’t have any development.
Aside from these annexations, the council changed the zoning classifications for the following city-owned properties:
- Land south of Campstool Road and north of Interstate 80 was rezoned to agricultural.
- Land northeast of the intersection of Morrie Avenue and East Lincolnway was changed to mixed-use business with an urban use overlay.
