CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Kiwanis Club of Cheyenne has made a donation of $250,000 to the city to help in providing amenities to the Kiwanis Community Park property.
Members of the club met with Mayor Patrick Collins and city staff this week to present a check for $170,000, which, when combined with a previous $80,000 donation, totals $250,000 that will go toward improving Kiwanis Community Park. The club announced a goal to raise that amount for the property in 2022.
“We’re grateful for the generosity of the Kiwanis Club and their commitment to Cheyenne,” said Jeanie Shrednik, Cheyenne’s parks and greenway planner. “This money will help us get on the way to fulfilling the master plan for the park.”
The Kiwanis Community Park is a roughly 105-acre parcel located west of the intersection of East Pershing Boulevard and Whitney Road. The purchase of the park property was taxpayer funded and approved in 2017 by Laramie County voters. The park is currently in a natural state and is open to the public from sunrise to sunset, seven days per week.
A master plan for the park was completed in June 2022.
