CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Cheyenne City Council approved significant agreements during its Jan. 27 meeting, allocating funds for community services, infrastructure improvements and recreational upgrades.
The council approved a $100,000 Human Services Agreement with the United Way of Laramie County. The funding, drawn from the 2019–2022 Optional 1% Sales Tax Fund, will help United Way oversee community agency performance and support local programs aimed at improving residents’ quality of life.
United Way will use the funding to monitor the effectiveness of community programs and ensure they meet established goals such as housing assistance, food security and youth services in Laramie County.
Councilmembers referred a lease agreement with the Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming to the Finance Committee. The agreement allows the Girl Scouts to use 45.93 acres near the former Roundtop Water Treatment Facility for activities aligned with their mission.
Under the one-year lease, the Girl Scouts will pay the city $100 annually, with an option to extend the lease for two additional years. The agreement also includes provisions for non-exclusive use by other groups with prior approval.
The council awarded Cheyenne Tile and Stone an $85,950 contract to replace hardwood floors at the Kiwanis Community House. The project includes base coving replacement, if necessary, and is scheduled for completion by March 2025. The funding comes from One-Time State Distribution Funds allocated for parks and recreation projects.
The council referred a modification to the Wyoming Department of Health’s Title III-B Program Grant to the Finance Committee. The modification seeks to enhance transportation services for residents aged 60 and older, ensuring better accessibility and support for the aging population.
The Cheyenne City Council meets in regular session at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Meetings are held in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 2101 O’Neil Ave. in Cheyenne.
