CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Cheyenne City Council will hold two key work sessions this week to outline goals for 2025 and discuss developments at Thunder Plains Racetrack.
On Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 6 p.m., the council will meet in Room 104 of the Municipal Building to continue its annual Goal Setting Work Session. This session builds on discussions from the Jan. 29 meeting. Councilmembers will refine their priorities for the year and develop a plan to achieve them. The session will be available on Zoom, but in-person attendance will not be allowed.
Later in the week, on Friday, Feb. 7 at noon, the council will receive an update from Thunder Plains Racetrack and Cowboy Racing in Council Chambers. This session will be open for in-person attendance and available via Zoom. Presenters Will Edwards and Ryan Clement from Cowboy Racing, along with Affie Ellis, will discuss plans for Thunder Plains Park and a partnership with 1/ST Racing to bring professional horse racing to Laramie County.
The presentation will also cover proposed off-track betting locations, including Westby Edge, the former Old Chicago building and a repurposed fire station. Additionally, presenters will seek support for local revenue generation through expanded horse racing operations.
No public comment will be taken during either session. More details, including Zoom access information, are available at www.cheyennecity.org/ecm.
