CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The City of Cheyenne will host an open house for the 15th Street Railcar Experience, and residents are invited to provide input on the draft update of the project’s master plan.
The open house will be Tuesday, March 11 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Cottonwood Room at the Laramie County Library, 2200 Pioneer Ave. A brief presentation is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
The 15th Street Project focuses on public improvements along 15th Street between the Depot and the Reed Rail Corridor, with a primary emphasis on upgrading lighting, landscaping and streetscape elements to enhance walkability and safety. While part of a broader City Council priority, these interim enhancements aim to spur investment and serve as foundational upgrades while the larger 15th Street Project progresses.
The goals of the 15th Street Railcar Experience are to:
- Create a community-based plan that reflects the vision and desires of residents, visitors and property owners
- Maximize parking and provide optimal vehicle, pedestrian and bike circulation
- Enhance the corridor and depot area by creating areas to display historic rail cars and repurposed rail cars
- Integrate the Reed Avenue Rail Corridor and improve connectivity to pedestrian and bicycle facilities in the downtown area
- Improve the aesthetics and safety of the corridor by installing fencing and lighting and creating potential opportunities for businesses and gatherings
The project area follows 15th Street between Capitol and Bent avenues.
