CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A contractor has been chosen to take the helm on the County Road 142 Reconstruction Project.

At its regular Tuesday meeting, the Board of Laramie County Commissioners approved a bid from Simon Contractors for the project. The county accepted the bid in the amount of $5,189,321.50.

The reconstruction project was approved by voters in 2021 in the amount of $3,470,661.02 via the Sixth Penny Tax, according to Laramie County Public Works Director Molly Bennett. Public Works will dip into its own budget to fund the remaining cost.

A roadway will be built for County Road 142 between US30 and the railroad tracks located north of the highway, Bennett said. The construction company will also rebuild Main Street and County Road 215A in Hillsdale up to the intersection of County Road 143. The intersections resting at the eastern and western boundaries of Hillsdale will be reconfigured.
