CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A Wyoming Department of Family Services grant has been awarded to a program that aims to prop up first-time homebuyers.
The Cheyenne-based nonprofit organization My Front Door has received an $8,842.86 grant from the county, as approved by commissioners Tuesday. The county received the funds from the Wyoming Department of Family Services Temporary Assistance for Needy Families grant.
My Front Door is a Cheyenne-based nonprofit organization that aims to disrupt the cycle of poverty. The organization specializes in educating and assisting people seeking to be first-time homeowners. Those who are part of the My Front Door program attend courses to become more adept at money management and the homebuying process. The organization currently has a 97% success rate among course-takers.
The organization serves families for seven years as they work toward financial independence. My Front Door offers two financial literacy and homebuyer education classes for 10 families every year. In addition, families can access other resources on a daily basis, including crisis intervention, financial coaching, community referrals, career development and more.
The grant is active immediately and is valid through Sept. 30, 2025.
