CHEYENNE, Wyo. — On Tuesday, the Laramie County Board of County Commissioners reconsidered four fireworks application permits it originally rejected at its April 16 meeting. Commissioners remained steadfast, again voting against granting the permits.

At its April meeting, commissioners shot down fireworks license requests from Breanna Elliott, who does business as Jurassic Fireworks and Artillery World in south Laramie County. The board reconsidered its decision at Tuesday’s meeting. However, following conversations with two lawyers representing Elliott, all five commissioners voted against the application appeals.

The county officials denied the permits largely due to safety and welfare concerns. For instance, Commissioner Troy Thompson stood firmly against the appeal, stating that Jurassic Fireworks and Artillery World have historically conducted business in a disruptive manner that puts the wellbeing of employees, neighbors and local competitors at risk.
