CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Two county entities now have additional federal funds to bounce back from the global health pandemic.

The Laramie County Board of County Commissioners approved a $175,000 ARPA contract to assist Laramie County Senior Services. Much like the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund, or SLFRF, federal ARPA grants help assist state, territorial, local and Tribal governments recover from the impacts of COVID-19. Both are overseen by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

Aside from this new contract, commissioners extended an ongoing SLFRF contract with Senior Services to assist in mitigating the impacts of COVID-19. The contract was set to expire at the end of December, but commissioners passed an addendum to extend these funds by an extra two years through December 2026.

The SLFRF grant originally went into effect in April 2023 in the amount of $250,000. As part of the addendum, commissioners have also increased the amount of funds available to Senior Services by $68,372.87, bringing the adjusted contract total to $318,372.87.

Much like the contract for Senior Services, the county’s governing body approved to extend an SLFRF agreement for Laramie County Library. The library first received $200,000 in funds in March 2023. The facility now has an extra $25,000 for a total of $225,000 to help support innovative programming and services and assist in library expansion efforts. The agreement will last through 2026.
