CHEYENNE, Wyo. — After two months of living under emergency fire restrictions, Laramie County residents can now set off fireworks and enjoy outdoor campfires.
At its regular Tuesday meeting, the Board of County Commissioners rescinded the county’s stage 2 fire restrictions that have been in place since March 6. The board approved the decision to limit fire use in March in response to two large-scale wildfires that occurred near Interstate 25 in February and Happy Jack Road in March.
Matt Butler, Laramie County fire warden, said weather conditions regarding fire outbreaks improved throughout April, and the coming month’s weather is expected to be favorable. Butler said he consulted with county fire chiefs regarding the fire restrictions.
The fire restrictions are lifted effective immediately.
