CHEYENNE, Wyo. — County leaders are again choosing to invest in the economic promotion and success of the county’s businesses.

The Laramie County Board of County Commissioners approved a contract at its regular Tuesday meeting granting $200,000 to the Cheyenne/Laramie County Economic Development Joint Powers Board. The funds will be used for economic development endeavors, as well as for maintaining relationships with outside entities.

The joint powers board also received $200,000 from the county in 2024, according to Chris Brennan, attorney for the joint powers board. Over the past year, the board has undertaken a variety of projects that aim to bolster the local economy and assist small businesses, Brennan said. Examples of past board activities include purchasing exhibits for the Cheyenne Children’s Museum, providing funds to renovate the sole car wash in Pine Bluffs and making contributions to the Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority’s Capital Improvement Grant program.

The funds are effective immediately and will last through the end of fiscal year 2025.
