CHEYENNE, Wyo. — During its regular meeting Tuesday, the Laramie County Board of Commissioners approved an award contract that will provide county employees with additional training opportunities.
The county received the award from Wyoming’s Office of the Attorney General, according to the contract. The funds go toward the sheriff’s office’s Project Safe Neighborhood program with the purpose of helping deputies combat violent crime in Laramie County.
The grant will allow six staff members in the sheriff’s office to attend a training on homicide investigation. Ten staff members will also be able to enroll in a separate training course.
Project Safe Neighborhood aims to implement strategies to reduce violent crime and address crime problems in Laramie County. The program also strives to foster community trust and utilize data to identify those driving violent crime, as well as help individuals at risk of being victimized.
