CHEYENNE, Wyo. — County deputies now have additional funds to better enforce livestock laws.

At its regular Tuesday meeting, the Laramie County Board of Commissioners agreed to amend a memorandum of understanding between the Wyoming Livestock Board and Laramie County Sheriff’s Office. The amendment increases the total funding amount to $45,000 and extends the MOU’s term length.

The original MOU of $15,000 was approved in March, per the amendment document. Then in July, the commissioners amended the MOU to provide the sheriff’s office an additional $15,000 for a total of $30,000, as well as extend the agreement term to June 30, 2026. The original MOU only ran to June 30 of this year.

The commissioners approved a second amendment Tuesday that adds an additional $15,000 on top of the increase from July, bringing the total funding to $45,000.

The purpose of the agreement, according to the original MOU, is for the sheriff’s office to conduct livestock enforcement across the county. Personnel with the sheriff’s office will also be tasked with submitting a Livestock Law Enforcement Investigation Report to the Wyoming Livestock Board.
